Containing three seperate stories, Max  backtracks to the origins of Patient 4d6178 and, like in The Patient, leads us up to an allusion of what's to come in Part Two: The Observer.  Whether or not you've read any of The Complex, the stories in this interlude can be enjoyed both separately from and cohesively with the main plot of the serial novel.
